The project

About This Project

This home needed more than a basic furnace swap. The supplied before photos document aging mechanical equipment and a restrictive return-air arrangement that was limiting the system's airflow, comfort potential, and indoor-air-quality options. Grove Mechanical redesigned the forced-air system around a Lennox high-efficiency gas furnace and cold-climate heat pump, corrected the return-air ductwork, and added Lennox PureAir whole-home air purification. The completed photo set shows a clean mechanical-room installation and the matching Grove-branded Lennox outdoor heat-pump unit. The result is a coordinated heating, cooling, airflow, and filtration upgrade designed for year-round Lower Mainland comfort.

Challenges We Solved

1More than a basic furnace replacement

The project started with aging equipment and a return-air configuration that was restricting the performance potential of the forced-air system. Grove approached the work as a complete airflow and comfort redesign rather than an equipment-only changeout.

2Pairing efficient electric comfort with reliable gas backup

The completed system combines a Lennox cold-climate heat pump with a high-efficiency Lennox gas furnace. This dual-fuel approach gives the home efficient heat-pump operation through much of the season while retaining a gas-furnace option for colder weather.

3Making cleaner indoor air part of the system design

The upgrade included Lennox PureAir whole-home air purification so filtration and air treatment were considered alongside heating, cooling, ductwork, and commissioning.

The Result

The finished installation is a complete comfort-system upgrade: corrected return-air ductwork, a Lennox high-efficiency gas furnace, a cold-climate Lennox heat pump, and PureAir whole-home filtration working together. The documented photos show the difference in finish quality and access, while the system design is intended to support more consistent airflow, efficient heating and cooling, and cleaner recirculated indoor air throughout the year.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does return-air ductwork matter in a furnace replacement?

The return side brings household air back to the furnace or air handler. When it is undersized or restrictive, the blower has to work harder and the system can struggle to move air evenly. Grove assesses return-air design as part of a full replacement so the new equipment has the airflow path it needs.

What is a dual-fuel furnace and heat-pump system?

A dual-fuel system pairs an electric heat pump with a gas furnace. The heat pump can provide efficient heating in milder weather and cooling in summer, while the gas furnace provides dependable heating when the outdoor conditions call for it. The best setup depends on the home, equipment, controls, and comfort priorities.

What does Lennox PureAir add to a whole-home system?

PureAir is a whole-home air-treatment component that works with the forced-air system. It is designed to help reduce circulating particles, dust, allergens, and other indoor-air contaminants. Grove can review filtration and air-quality options alongside the heating and cooling design.

Can this type of upgrade qualify for rebates?

Rebate availability and eligibility change over time and depend on the home, equipment, installation, and program requirements. Grove can confirm the current BC Hydro and CleanBC options that apply before a project moves ahead.
