The project
This project was designed as a complete home-comfort upgrade, not a one-piece equipment swap. The original mechanical closet combined an older furnace, storage-tank water heater, and aging outdoor equipment in a cramped layout. Grove rebuilt the room around a premium Lennox Signature furnace and heat pump, Rinnai tankless hot water, a Carbon Clean MERV 16 filtration upgrade, and Saku whole-home scent diffusion. The goal was to make every return home feel more comfortable, cleaner, and more intentional — with the kind of finished detail most contractors do not build into a mechanical room.

Project film chapters
The supplied before photos document an older furnace, storage-tank water heater, legacy venting, and a crowded closet layout. The project required more than a simple equipment replacement to create a considered end result.
The homeowner wanted heating, cooling, hot water, filtration, and scent to work together as one intentional comfort system — not as unrelated add-ons.
The scope put emphasis on the room as a finished system: equipment selection, access, piping, filtration, and the everyday experience of living with the upgrade.
The completed system brings premium Lennox heating and heat-pump comfort, Rinnai on-demand hot water, serious MERV 16 carbon filtration, and Saku scent diffusion into one full mechanical-room transformation. It is a different standard of home comfort: cleaner-feeling indoor air when forest-fire smoke is a concern, dependable hot water, refined temperature control, and a signature scent that makes coming home feel more like arriving at a luxury hotel.
The project combines heating, heat-pump comfort, on-demand tankless hot water, high-efficiency filtration, and whole-home scent diffusion. The before-and-after photos show the move from an older, crowded setup to a coordinated comfort system.
A high-efficiency MERV 16 filter is designed to capture fine particles in the air moving through the system, while carbon media can help reduce odours. Actual indoor air quality also depends on how the home is operated, outdoor-air entry, and the specific smoke event.
A properly sized Rinnai tankless system heats water on demand, so it can provide continuous hot water within the capacity of the equipment and the home’s incoming water conditions. Grove sizes the system around the household’s real demand.
Saku whole-home scent diffusion adds a signature fragrance experience through the home. In this project, it was included to make the arrival experience feel refined and memorable — like stepping into a luxury hotel.
